Why should you fill out an EP assessment form?
Educational psychology assessment is a comprehensive service that evaluates a child's or young person's cognitive abilities, learning style, strengths, and areas of need. But why might you do this kind of assessment?
The goal is to develop an understanding of the individual's learning profile, which can include identifying specific learning differences such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, or ADHD. The results of these assessments are used to create tailored support strategies, inform educational interventions, and provide recommendations for parents, teachers, and other professionals to help the individual reach their full potential.

Dr Chris Wood – Educational Psychologist
I am a doctoral level qualified educational psychologist, specialising in learning difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, youth offending and special educational needs/disabilities tribunals and disputes.
I have worked in local authority and independent contexts, and also represented families in a wide variety of legal processes. I am motivated by a strong desire to ensure children get what they need – whether this is through comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, advocacy and, when needed, representation at tribunal hearings.
Nicola Tallis – Educational Psychologist
I am an experienced Educational Psychologist with 20 years of expertise, currently serving as a Senior Educational Psychologist for a Local Authority and in private practice.
I specialize in supporting neurodiversity in schools, working extensively with students with a variety of needs. I have a particular interest in helping students with emotionally based school non-attendance, offering tailored strategies to help them re-engage in their education and find the right school placement.
I am recognised for my holistic assessment approach, which includes a thorough understanding of a student’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses and an evaluation of any underlying emotional and mental health needs. I work closely with families and schools to ensure a collaborative approach that fosters each student’s success.
With extensive experience in tribunal casework, I have a strong track record representing both local authorities and families. My approach is rooted in empathy, evidence-based practices, and a dedication to providing every child with the support they need to succeed in their educational journey.
Dr Arran Kai Nurse - Educational Psychologist
I am a HCPC-registered Educational and Child Psychologist with a professional doctorate and broad experience supporting children, young people, and families in school and community settings.
I carry out holistic, tailored assessments that provide a clear picture of a child’s cognitive profile and learning needs, including dyslexia. I also explore social, emotional, and mental health factors that may affect development and wellbeing. Grounded in current research, my assessments aim to offer clarity, insight, and practical recommendations that support meaningful progress.
Social justice underpins my work. I’m committed to reducing barriers to learning and wellbeing through neuroaffirmative and strengths-based approaches that ensure each child feels seen, heard, and understood. Relationships are central to this process — I work with empathy, honesty, and care, and want every parent and child to feel supported and confident throughout the assessment journey. As a young, mixed-heritage psychologist, I value diversity and difference, and often find this helps me build meaningful connections with the families I work with.
