What’s the different between Dyslexia & Dyscalculia?

Dyslexia & Dyscalculia are distinct learning differences that affect different areas of cognitive functioning. Dyslexia primarily impacts reading, writing, and spelling skills, while dyscalculia affects mathematical abilities and number processing.

Why do we assess them together?

Despite these differences, they are often assessed together due to their high comorbidity rate, with some research reporting approximately 40% of people with dyslexia also have dyscalculia. Both conditions can coexist and share some common underlying factors, such as difficulties with working memory, processing speed, and rapid automatic naming.

That’s why our team of experts assess both at the same time, to provide a more comprehensive understanding of your child’s learning profile, allowing for more effective support strategies to be implemented.
